Cisco and Networking Podcasts

May 21, 2020 | Uncategorized

If you’re like pre-pandemic me, you probably had some sort of commute where you had the choice to listen to the local radio, an audiobook or a podcast. During that time, I liked to divide up my commute with a professional podcast on the way to work and one for personal interests on the way home (sports, music, personal development, etc). In this post, I wanted to share a few of my favorite podcasts that are focused on Cisco solutions and the ecosystem at-large. In no particular order:

Cisco Champion Radio – hosted by Cisco’s Lauren Friedman, this podcast is a forum that brings together a group of experts from Cisco, the partner community and/or service providers to discuss current technologies and their use cases. Lauren is a great host who keeps things lively even when the topics can be dense like the latest episode, “Increase Visibility and Enhance Security with Cisco AI Endpoint Analytics” (what a mouthful!). This podcast usually runs 3-5 times a month and is good for sales, SEs and business leaders alike.

Conf T with your SE – this podcast bills itself as “tips, tricks and commentary from the world of Cisco brought to you by the people who know it best.” This is a bi-monthly podcast hosted Bryan Young, a Cisco SE, this podcast is largely aimed at, you guessed it: System Engineers. BUT, I find Bryan and his guests don’t go too technical and I recommend their latest on SecureX.

Meraki Unboxed – Meraki gets the sole attention on this podcast hosted by Simon Tompson, Head of Audience Marketing at Cisco, this drills in deep on what separates Meraki from other cloud networking solutions. Some of my favorite episodes involve the API capability of the Meraki Dashboard and the use cases it creates.

Beers with Talos – for the security professional in your office or life! This highly rated podcast focused on emerging security threats and other security issues, all with beer. These are usually a little more technical than the other recommendations and can get into depth on security issues that are being seen by Talos.
